False Favourites - Jonathon Burgess

False Favourites, an ebook written by Jonathon Burgess, is marketed as a ’system’ for betting on horse racing. Burgess is noted as an accreditedBetfair trainer and, apparently, really knows his stuff. Basically put the idea is to spot weak favourites and then lay against them. The market is absolutely full of ‘foolproof’ laying systems (note: there is no such thing as a foolproof system. There is always a fool that is able to disprove the foolproof theory) and it really would take something a bit different to stand out from the crowd.
False Favourites comes as a PDF file which explains Burgess’ system. It is well written — clearly by a professional who knows his stuff — and interesting.
And this is where I must dispute the description of False Favourites as a ’system’: at least it is not in any way a system where you pump some money in at one end and more comes out at the other. Successful false favourite betting involves good monitoring of the market and actually knowing what you are doing. The False Favourites ebook gives the grounding necessary to start down the path of figuring out your own system of betting, but is not a ’system’ in the derogatory sense of the word.
The False Favourites ebook goes some way to helping you learn garner the knowledge necessary to become a winning layer. The 200 page book contains a lot of very useful information and, to be honest, it can be a bit overwhelming at times; the fact that this is all relevant information though makes you want to jump back in and continue learning. Everything from the basic facts to full worked examples are included in the book and it’s all well presented, clear and concise.
Like any ’system’ False Favourites is not something that is going to make you instantly rich. It will though point you in the right direction to make money from your betting
