Going Flat – Trainer Flat Stats
December 13, 2008 · Print This Article
Trainer Flat Stats is a betting system based on flat racing in the UK. It tries to look at the statistics of the jockeys and trainers involved in upcoming races, then uses this – along with some statistical wizardry – to attempt to guess who is going to come first. Sound simple? Well, not quite.
The thing is, the selection process – as well as the actual betting process – is really easy. No one can go wrong here. But it doesn’t matter how easy the process is if you’re going to lose in the long-term, does it?
The first you’ve got to realise – and anyone has to realise – that guessing results based on past stats is definitely a hit and miss affair. There is no science behind it and the only way you’re likely to notice that things are going downhill is that your bank disappears. When you think about it, it’s going to happen. A jockey loses form, for the next five races. The only time those fives races have figured into your system is when they’ve been and gone; by that time you’ve already lost your money!
This is not to say that Trainer Flat Stats really flatlines in any way (excuse the terrible pun) but that it is just as risky as ‘guessing’ where the winner is coming from. Just because it is maths doesn’t mean it’s right.
Having said all that, I can confirm that I’ve seen a profit in my small-scale use of the system. Not a huge profit, but a + movement on my account nonetheless. My problem is that once it starts going wrong – as soon as it hits the glass ceiling, as another reviewer put it – then you will be very disappointed very quickly. I simply can’t recommend this to anyone for this reason. Sorry, Trainer Flat Stats!
